Peace on the Mountain

I have a very special photoshoot coming up in a few days.  Naty's teacher from last year, Mrs. Melissa, is expecting her first child, a baby girl.  While trying to figure out a location, she mentioned Kennesaw Mountain.  While I have heard of it, I have not had the opportunity to visit.  I am definitely a sucker for photoshoots in the most serene of places.  There's nothing like capturing a subject in the midst of God's creation.

Unfortunately, today was one of the foggiest days I have seen in a long time.  Since Doug was able to come with me to Atlanta, I figured we would take a leisurely drive to the mountain.  As we started up the base, we passed lots of different people who apparently were still gung-ho about their New Year's resolutions.  Young, old, alone, in groups, mothers, fathers, you name it and we saw it.  I couldn't help but to feel admiration for these people though.  Over 2 miles at a steep angle that made my car whine.....  As we kept climbing all you could see was the trees and the fog.

When we reached the top, you could hike up another half mile to the steepest point.  As Doug and I started the hike, I couldn't help but look around in awe.  This was God's country that he created with his own hands.  As you hike up the first part, you pass cannons that the confederate soldiers dragged up the mountain to protect Atlanta from General Sherman.  When you look around, especially on mornings like this with the fog covering the mountain, you can almost imagine yourself during that time.

Always take in the beauty around you.  No matter how foggy, rainy, or cloudy it is "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. "
